We’ve recently been working with communities in both Yorkshire and Lancashire about their dialect and accent differences, and now some Yorkshire folks we collaborate with have boldly decided to campaign for a YORKSHIRE EMOJI to gain more global visibility. :-) This fun (but important) new campaign has been kickstarted by the young people involved with the Yorkshire Dialect Society. We've enjoyed two of the Yorkshire Dialect Club get-togethers so far at Honley Library. Participants have been learning about the differences between accent and dialect, the origins of the Yorkshire dialect and have been trying their hand at listening, speaking, reading and writing in Yorkshire dialect. Tameside Creative Network have invited Past Truisms to spend time with local creative folks in order to support them to find out more about writing with humour. In particular, we'll be examining the heritage and tradition of 'northern humour', looking at what has made northern comedy writing and performance so successful - as well as thinking about how to inject a more light-hearted spirit into both the content of creative works, as well as into the marketing side of a creative business.
